A Letter from Colin & Nicci
We are an energetic and joyful family who values faith, family, and healthy living. Nicci’s grandfather, Colin’s stepfather, and two of our friends were each adopted and so we’ve known, since early on in our relationship, we would want to adopt one day. After we had our daughter, Nicci became a stay-at-home mom, and since Colin works from home, we get a lot of family time. We’d love to get to know you and look forward to sharing an open adoption with letters, photos, and occasional visits.
How we met: We met in college when Colin was playing softball with my brother. My dad saw Colin playing and appreciated his hustle and attitude. He told me right then and there that Colin was ‘the one.’ Turns out he was right! We started to get to know each other and the rest is history! We’ve been married for 8 years and together for 11 years.
Things we love to do:
• Cook healthy meals together
• Be active through CrossFit, hiking, and biking
• Have game nights with extended family
• Travel to the coast to enjoy the beach
I’m passionate about nutrition and healing. Before I was a mom, I was a registered nurse and owned a nutrition practice. Now, I use my passion and talent to cook and care those in my life, including helping out in the kitchen at church. The best parts of my days are when I am playing and reading with our daughter.
What Colin Loves About Nicci:
Nicci is thoughtful, compassionate, and silly. Her gift of hospitality and kindness shine when she shares meals with friends and family. She is driven, focused, and excels at anything she puts her mind to. She is always focused on keeping our family healthy and ready for the next adventure. Nicci is a fantastic mom and I would be honored to raise another child with her.
I work as a project manager in commercial construction. It is gratifying to see things built from nothing or to be restored from disrepair. I am always challenged to grow in my work. I also like that I am free to work from home and choose my schedule, allowing me to be there for my family when needed.
What Nicci Loves About Colin:
Colin is a hard-working, attentive, caring leader, and excellent provider. He’s forever taking care of us, our home, and helping out with the details in between. We so appreciate having Colin’s father-power as a presence in our home with him working here. He is incredibly quick to love, forgive, and guide. He’s also our family’s #1 DJ, and he makes the BEST pancakes and coffee!
Quinn is a sweet and nurturing girly-girl. She loves horses, seeing the moon at night, getting new shoes, and playing make-up. She enjoys trips to the park and helping us cook and clean. We are so proud of her! When we talk with her about adoption she gets excited at the idea of rocking her baby brother or sister to sleep. She will be a very nurturing and playful big sister.
Our Favorite Family Activities:
• Sharing meals at the table
• Reading in bed before bedtime
• Cooking and dancing in the kitchen
• Going on weekend adventures
Our families are so supportive of our plans to adopt and they can’t wait to welcome another little one into the family (our nephew and three nieces are especially excited for another cousin!). Our immediate family is large, with most of our parents and siblings living close by. We see them weekly. Our extended family is a little spread out, but we see them several times a year. We love to gather for meals, play new games together, fish, garden, camp at the beach, and meet up at our family cabin.
• Carving pumpkins and dressing up for Halloween
• Attending church and going for a drive on Sundays
• Going on a family bike ride around the neighborhood
• Hosting big birthday parties for family members
We live in rural Northern California, close to the city, and just a short drive to the mountains or the beach! Our four-bedroom home is located in a natural setting with a lot of oak and pine trees, walking/biking trails, lakes, and rivers. Our favorite thing about where we live is the park and sports complex down the road. Our home is newly built and we have a whole part of the house dedicated for our children’s bedrooms, playrooms, and home-schooling zone.
Thank you so much for considering us! We are so grateful for the life we have, including the people in it. We would be so honored to share all of that with your child, and to have an open relationship with you, if you would like.
Along with raising your child in a consistent, safe, and loving home, we promise to…
• Prioritize their education and encourage life and skill building.
• Model Christ and teach your child about our faith and morals.
• Encourage your child to have confidence and love for themselves.
• Surround your child with friends and family that support them.
Very thoughtfully, Colin & Nicci
